Safe Neighborhoods

Snoqualmie is a family-friendly community. Few communities in the state can boast a higher percentage of residents under the age of 18.

We see the pride carry over to some of the best public schools.

Protecting this safe community mindset is our dedicated police department. In 2017, I had the privilege as a citizen to be appointed to the Police Chief Selection Committee. We interviewed many excellent candidates, but one stood out and has been serving our city since.

Through COVID, we were down officers due to retirements, a promotion, vax requirements and a few lateral moves. Those who continued on worked long shifts and overtime to ensure we had a safe community. I am proud of the work they have done, and along with my fellow councilmembers and our Mayor, we have put forward a retention bonus program to thank all our city employees based on their tenured service. And this city has steadily hired new officers.

Shortly after my appointment to the council, I spent nine hours with three of our officers. It was a real eye-opener to see the work they do while most of us are home having dinner and sleeping.

I am thankful for all they do. But our work is far from over.

We need tougher laws on property crimes. We need to stop vehicle thefts  and porch pirates. We passed a city ordinance to make vehicle prowls including the attempt to open car doors a crime in Snoqualmie.

In 2023, I was appointed as one of seven councilmembers across the 38 cities in King County to the Regional Law, Safety, and Justice Committee. I am only one of two public officials representing small cities. I am determined to understand what we need to protect your family, the businesses we frequent, and our all our neighborhoods.

With your support, I will keep advocating for our best interests.
